Web Developer - Wordpress

This is a mid-level position with a focus on creating and updating Wordpress websites for various clients. We understand that not everything can be known, but the right candidate is willing to and can learn new things quickly and has a desire to keep up with current trends and technologies. 

We are looking for creative thinkers, with the desire to learn and teach new things. 

We are a close knit-team that has a clear set of values within a constantly evolving landscape. So we hire carefully.

Applicants should be well-versed in custom Wordpress development and making themes from scratch rather than customizing pre-made themes. Strong front-end development of responsive interactive features is a must. 

Responsibilities

Create and update custom Wordpress themes using page building tools like Beaver Builder, Elementor, Gutenburg, etc.

Maintain and enhance the user experience of client websites, and applications.

Optimize websites for maximum speed and scalability.

Troubleshooting bugs and problems with existing and new projects.

Collaborate with other developers, client account manager, and directly with clients to create website functionality and design solutions.

Work with Project Management and Creative Directors to implement site designs.

Assist in server hosting setup and implementation.

Explore and present on new technologies in and outside of the web development sphere

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

2-3 years of experience or relevant work history.

Excellent knowledge of custom Wordpress theme development.

Experience with Wordpress page builders

Excellent knowledge of PHP, MySQL, SCSS, JS, and HTML is required.

Experience with git version control and collaborative coding.

Experience creating responsive websites and following style guides.

Proficient with build tools like Webpack, Gulp, etc

Proficient understanding of vanilla javascript as well as javascript frameworks and libraries

Understanding of server architecture and Linux operating systems. Experience with Digital Ocean, AWS, or Heroku are a plus.

Comfortable with the command line and common developer command line tools.

Follow written and verbal direction for consistency across all builds.

Strong eye for design consistency and ability to convert designs into functional templates and modules.

Detail oriented website development and QA, with strong organizational and communication skills

Ability to excel working independently, unsupervised or with minimal guidance in a fast-paced, deadline-driven agency.

Nice to have:

Experience with MVC frameworks like Laravel, Rails, Adonis, etc.

Experience with Vue, React or Angular

Ecommerce

Docker

Familiarity with Adobe XD, Sketch, Zeplin, or Invision

3D experience with three.js, pixi.js, etc

Experience with node.js
